Four steps, start to finish
In the rain we stop the water; the repair is made dry, with a written quote before any work.
Tell us what you are seeing
The address, where the water is showing, how fast it is coming, and whether it is raining now.
A stopgap if it is wet
On a wet day the water is stopped and nothing more: a tarp or a temporary seal, photographed and written down as temporary, quoted on its own.
The trace on a dry day
Once the roof is dry, the stain is followed back from the attic to where the water got in, and the repair is quoted in writing with anything that can wait marked as such.
The repair, then the walkaround
The stopgap comes off, the failed detail is fixed and closed, and photographs are taken before and after.

What to do about a roof leak in the rain, before a roofer arrives
Every one of these is done from inside or from the ground, and every one of them makes the dry-day trace faster.
Catch the water and protect what is under it
A bucket under the drip, belongings moved or covered with plastic.
Note where, when and which way the wind blew
Which room, which part of the ceiling, how long into the rain it started, and the wind direction.
Photograph the stain and mark its edge
A pencil line around the stain, dated. Next rain you can see whether it grew, and the dry-day trace starts from it.
Stay off the roof
Wet shingles are slick, wet tile breaks underfoot, and nothing made on a wet roof lasts.
The first big rain sets the roofing calendar here
Worth knowing before you start calling around, because the day after the first storm is the worst day to be choosing.
Rialto's summers are hot and dry, and roofs that failed quietly over the summer all show it in the same storm. One review in this market's own search describes an intense December rain that showed one household several roof leaks at once. After a night like that, every roofer in the Inland Empire is called at the same time.
That is why the order matters. Water coming in is a same-day stopgap; a stain that stopped when the rain did can wait for a booked dry-day trace without getting worse, as long as it is marked and watched.
- Active leaks get a stopgap the same day where light and weather allow
- Dry-day repairs booked in order of water coming in
- The stopgap quoted separately from the permanent repair
- A written account of what was temporary and what was fixed
